Tory Party Councillor (Bradford, Yorkshire) Inkhab Alam was convicted and jailed for 28 months in 2006 for the hit-and-run killing of 20-year-old Christopher Benson who was mown down at 70mph (in a 40mph zone) just a few yards away from his grandparents’ home. Witnesses described how Councillor Alam pulled up after the collision, went back to the scene, and then drove away, leaving young Christopher to die in the street.
