A former council candidate who falsely claimed almost £50,000 in benefits has been jailed for one year.
Clive Parsons, 64, of Cotswold Close, Kidderminster, Worcestershire, stood as a Liberal Democrat candidate for Wyre Forest District Council in April 2007.
He admitted falsely claiming benefits between 2002 and 2007.
In 1996 he was sentenced to 15 months’ jail, suspended for two years, for obtaining property by deception.
